Boosts Endurance: When HMB is given to endurance athletes, it has been shown to help damaged muscles to recover. It seems that the same signalling pathways that HMB uses to help weightlifters pack on muscle also benefits endurance athletes by promoting muscles repair after a particularly strenuous workout. Moreover, a small study on endurance athletes found that HMB boosted oxygen uptake, known as VO2 max, during interval training. It is yet to be determined whether HMB can directly boost performance of endurance athletes like runners and swimmers. Unfortunately, most researches are limited to short-term studies and therefore it has yet to be determined whether enhanced recovery can actually help endurance athletes to run, pedal, or swim for a longer period of time.
