Το αιθέριο έλαιο μάραθου εξάγεται από το φυτό Foeniculum vulgare var. dulce, το οποίο είναι ο γλυκός μάραθος, γνωστός και ως ρωμαϊκός μάραθος. Εξάγεται από τους θρυμματισμένους σπόρους με απόσταξη ατμού. Χρησιμοποιείται στην αρωματοθεραπεία για τη θεραπεία του λιπαρού δέρματος, των ρυτίδων και της παχυσαρκίας. Λέγεται ότι ενισχύει το θάρρος, την αποφασιστικότητα και τη δύναμη.

Αυτό το έλαιο είναι ένα δημοφιλές φάρμακο για πεπτικά προβλήματα όπως μετεωρισμός, δυσκοιλιότητα, κολικοί, ναυτία, έμετος, ανορεξία και δυσπεψία.
